More than 1 million ENERGY STAR homes have been built in the United States since the program first began labeling homes in 1995. ENERGY STAR qualified homes include a variety of energy-efficient features that contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort, as well as lower energy demand and reduced air pollution.
- If you plan to build from the foundation up, ask your builder to build an ENERGY STAR home.
- Look for homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR when you are on the real estate hunt. In Vermont, MLS listings include this information. If you don’t see the designation, be sure to ask your real estate agent.
