Building Performance Program

Eligibility Criteria

Building Performance rebates are for small business and rental property owners for energy efficiency projects completed by participating BPI certified contractors.

Generally, a building that was built as a house, but is now used for commercial or mixed use is eligible. Additionally, non-house type structures may be eligible. The following criteria must apply to all building types:

Small Business

1. Eligible Building Types
1. Less than 10,000 sq. ft. conditioned space
2. Wood framed
3. Masonry walls

2. Building Types not eligible for Building Performance incentives: Any building containing large process equipment (including large refrigeration, ventilation, or other process) including:
1. Industrial
2. Manufacturing
3. Warehouse
4. Municipal water / wastewater facilities
5. Hospitals
6. Grocery stores
7. Restaurants

Rental Property / Multifamily

1. Eligible Buildings
1. Five apartments or more
2. Mixed use (Combination of a commercial use and any number of apartments)
3. Three stories or less
4. Less than 10,000 sq. ft.
5. Wood framed
6. Masonry walls

2. Eligible Uses
1. Residential multifamily apartments
2. Bed and breakfasts
3. Condominiums
4. Common spaces associated with multifamily buildings, including community rooms, central hallways and stairs, laundry rooms, mail rooms, etc.
5. Mixed use (combination of eligible commercial and residential uses)
